Inject this medication under the skin in the thigh, abdomen, or upper arm as directed by your doctor, usually once daily.

How should I use Victoza?

Victoza is usually given once per day. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Do use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Do not use Saxenda and Victoza together. These two brands contain the same active ingredient but they should not be used together.

Read all patient information, medication guides, and instruction sheets provided to you. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
Victoza is injected under the skin at any time of the day, with or without a meal. You will be shown how to use injections at home. Do not self-inject this medicine if you do not understand how to give the injection and properly dispose of used needles and syringes.
Victoza comes in a prefilled injection pen. Ask your pharmacist which type of needles are best to use with your pen.

Drug interactions

Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor’s approval.
Beta-blocker medications (such as metoprolol, propranolol, glaucoma eye drops such as timolol) may prevent the fast/pounding heartbeat you would usually feel when your blood sugar falls too low (hypoglycemia). Other symptoms of low blood sugar, such as dizziness, hunger, or sweating, are unaffected by these drugs.
Many drugs can affect your blood sugar, making it harder to control. Examples include corticosteroids (such as prednisone), psychiatric medicines (such as olanzapine), quinolone antibiotics (such as ciprofioxacin), among others. Check your blood sugar regularly as directed and share the results with your doctor. Tell your doctor right away if you have symptoms of high or low blood sugar (see also Side Effects section).
Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication, exercise program, or diet.

Indication/Dosing of Victoza

Victoza is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and prophylaxis for disorder of cardiovascular system as a result of type 2 diabetes.
Its dosing involves titration to reduce gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting: initiate 0.6 mg daily subcutaneous infection for 1 week: increase to maintenance dose of 1.2 mg daily; and increase to 1.8 mg daily, as needed.?
Your care provider will show you the best places on your body to inject Victoza. Use a different place each time you give an injection. Do not inject into the same place two times in a row.

Do not share your pen device with another person, even if the needle is changed. You may give other people a serious infection, or get a serious infection from them. Learn how to store and discard medical supplies safely.

Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens (such as blood sugar remaining high or increasing).
